Council member Melissa Jones receives awards presented by council members.

Parsons council members who did not run for reelection this year were recognized during the June 19 City Council meeting.

Ward One Council Members Melissa Jones and Patrick Gray were recognized for their years of service on the council.   Neither Jones nor Gray sought reelection at the end of the two-year term that will expire at the end of this year. Jones has served on the board for eights years, and Gray has served for four years.

In other business, water line replacement work will take place on Hillcrest Drive and Rivercrest Street this week.  The city plans to replace line for thirteen service locations along 1,000 feet of water line.

All the necessary paperwork for the sewer line extension from the city to the Kingsford plant is complete.  “We did get all three businesses that are located up there, they did sign, because they are getting part of the sewer from the main line up to the site,” City Administrator Jason Myers said. “So we have four businesses that are going to benefit from that line.”

The next Parsons City Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.
