PARSONS – A photography studio in Parsons has a new location. Memory Lane Photography, owned and operated by Susan Marks, has moved from Route 72 to 137 Poplar St., right beside of Performance in the old Southern States Building. Marks said she opened the studio eight years ago.
“I do portrait photography including sports teams, families, children and weddings,” Marks said.
She said she really started photography while she was in high school.
“I had a position taking photos with our high school yearbook at Elkins High School,” Marks said. “We actually had a dark room where we developed our own film and that is where my interest in photography started.”
Marks said she doesn’t just take portraits in the studio, but also out in the field. She said the truck, pictured above, is just one of many available props for photos.
“I do locations and I also travel to the counties surrounding Tucker,” she said. “Right now is the senior season. High school and college seniors are getting their photographs done, and in the next couple of weeks, Christmas portraits will begin. Everyone will be working to complete their Christmas pictures and Christmas Cards.”
Marks said in past years, she has always had Santa Claus visit the studio. But this year, there is something new as well.
“This year, Santa is going to make his traditional mall- style visit, but I am also offering something unique,” she said. “We are going to transform the camera room into Santa’s workshop and there will be sessions available where each child can spend 20 to 30 minutes alone with Santa while working on things in the workshop. They can share a cookie and a glass of milk with Santa. From that session, the child will receive the digital images in the mail with a personalized card from Santa.”
Marks said along with prints, she offers a wide variety of items available with pictures including tote bags, cell phone covers, key chains, jewelry, coffee mugs, water bottles, aluminum travel mugs, magnets, Christmas ornaments, Christmas Cards and many other items.
Photography sessions, including the visit with Santa Claus, are available by appointment by calling Marks at 304-478-3373.
