During the last week of February 2017, Rick and Audrey Gump purchased Parsons Pizza. Now they are celebrating their one-year anniversary in Parsons.
The Gumps expressed their gratitude toward the Parsons Community. “We want to thank the community for their support over the last year and their continued support,” Audrey Gump said.
They believe their first year was a success and commented that business was smooth this year. Last summer was their busiest season.
The Gumps are experienced in the pizza making business. They own Grafton Hometown Pizza, which has been in operation for 18 years. “We were looking to expand a bit, and we just liked the location, and it happened to be for sale at the right time,” Rick Gump said.
They commented that the inclusion of a second pizza restaurant was easy. “It wasn’t like we were starting a brand new business,” Rick Gump said.
To reach out to the community, Parsons Pizza hosts a craft day for kids. The free event started in October and was held three times since, always on a Sunday. “We just want to get kids in to make crafts and eat pizza,” Audrey Gump said. For future kid’s craft days, check the shop’s Facebook page.
The two feel like the Parsons community received them well. “We get a lot of people saying they love our pizza, and saying they’re glad that we’re here,” Audrey Gump said.
They commented that their Big Mama Pizza is a menu highlight so far. For Valentine’s Day, the shop is offering a heart shaped pizza.
The Gumps employ four people at the Parsons location.
For the future, “Hopefully we’ll grow more. We always want to grow, and we are hoping to be more interactive with the community,” Rick Gump said.
Parsons Pizza is located at 412 Second St. Their hours are Monday through Thursday 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
