PARSONS –Babies are always an exciting and welcome addition to the family, especially when they are part of the holiday season and a Tucker County family is excited to welcome their 2017 New Year Baby.
Parsons residents Ray and Katie LaMora were expecting their second child on January 9, but Felicity Rose LaMora surprised her parents by arriving few days early. Felicity was born at 8:57 p.m. January 3 at St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon.
The child’s middle name, Rose is a family name from her mother’s side. Felicity Rose was named after her mother’s great – grandmother Rosie who lives in Elkins. She was born at 8:57 p.m. and weighed in at 7-pounds, 8-ounces and was 20-inches long. She was delivered by Dr. Peter Power.
Welcoming Felicity to the world are Grandparents Ed and Shellie Burda and Ray and Sue LaMora of Elkins, great -grandparents Dorothy Burda of Chester, Ralph and Barbara Bennett of Elkins and Ray and Margaret LaMora of Cohoes, New York. She also has a great-great – grandmother Rosie Phillips of Elkins.
Felicity joins her brother, Logan Kenney, who turned two-years-old in October.
Father Ray LaMora said the family is blessed to have the new addition to their family. He said he hopes Felicity grows to enjoy some of the same activities he enjoys.
“I really would like to see her enjoy some of the activities that I love like skiing at Canaan Valley Resort,” Ray LaMora said. “I would love to see her go into the legal field, but as long as she finds a career that she loves, I will be happy with that.”
LaMora said he hopes Felicity enjoys participating in sports.
“We know Tucker County has had a great girl’s basketball team and we would love to see her help them out in a few years,” he said.
Ray LaMora is beginning his second term as the Tucker County Prosecuting Attorney. He is a 2000 graduate of Elkins High School and a 2004 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College. He earned his MBA from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2005 and graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2008.
Katie LaMora is a 2005 graduate of Elkins High School and a 2011 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. She is a pharmacist at Kroger in Elkins.
The family attends Our Lady of Mercy Mission is Parsons with the Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Grassi.
