PARSONS – A much appreciated project – the completion of new playground equipment at River City Park – has been completed and is being enjoyed by the younger residents.

“Putting the piece together was quite complicated,” said Parsons City Councilman Tim Auvil. “We had a few obstacles, but we figured it out. It was assembled basically with a picture because there were no instructions.”

Auvil said Bill Rowe and John Lipscomb went to Indianapolis to pick up the parts because the freight bill would have been about $3,000.

The equipment, referred to as El Segundo, was purchased for $11,475 using funds from an allocation from the William Mahan Harman Memorial Fund.

“The system features a reversing spiral tube slide, a bench seat panel, and lots of other fun activities,” said Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer.

Park Board Secretary Kennetha Greenlief said she was thankful for everyone’s hard work getting the equipment to Parsons and getting it set up.

Those helping on the project include Cpl. Mike Wetzel, Trooper Jake Kopec, Sgt. Chris Silar, Kelly Silar, Parsons Chief of Police Bill Rowe, Terry Rowe, Patrick Darlington, Garrett Carrico, Trista Harper, Auvil, Greenlief, Janice McDaniel, David Greenlief, Phil Godwin, Lance Beers, Ray Amie, Lindsey Amie, Bill Arbogast, Brylee Wetzel, Mark Burns, Pete Tompkins, Sammy Blosser, Dave Snider, Terry Bunnell, Richard Stone and John Lipscomb.
