Parsons City Council appoints a replacement for Ward Two

PARSONS – Parsons City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint an individual to fill the Ward Two Council Member vacancy. The slot comes from the resignation of former council member, Pam Ruediger, who resigned earlier this month.
Jason Myers, Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer and Carolyn Hebb, Assistant, are recognized for their hard work and dedication to the City of Parsons. The awards were presented Tuesday during the Parsons City Council meeting by Parsons Chief of Police Bill Rowe and Connie Collins, Parsons City Recorder.
Jason Myers, Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer and Carolyn Hebb, Assistant, are recognized for their hard work and dedication to the City of Parsons. The awards were presented Tuesday during the Parsons City Council meeting by Parsons Chief of Police Bill Rowe and Connie Collins, Parsons City Recorder.

Following an executive session, Jane H. Barb, a previous member of the Parsons City Council was selected unanimously by council members to fill the seat made vacant by the resignation of Ruediger.

Parsons City Council members also hired Phillip Godwin part time for the position of public works laborer/equipment operator.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting, Parsons City Council Members took the following action:

-Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer Jason Myers and Assistant Carolyn Hebb were recognized for their hard work and dedication for the City of Parsons. The awards were presented by Parsons Chief of Police Bill Rowe.

-Myers announced he had designed an official city seal. The seal is on the City of Parsons Facebook page. Council members voted unanimously to adopt Myers’ design as the official city seal.

-Voted to ask Tucker County Commissioners for $25,000 in emergency funds to help secure an engineer estimate to repair the Pulp Mill Bottom Dike. Council member Bruce Kolsun and Myers will get on the agenda and address Commissioners as soon as possible.

-Voted to sign a proclamation declaring Nov. 23-29 as Christian Heritage Week.

The next City of Parsons Council meeting is slated for 6 p.m. Nov. 18.
