David Greenlief, Parsons City Council member, questions whether Council should spend money to replace or fix the elevator in the Charles W. ‘Bill’ Rosenau Municipal Building.
PARSONS – Parsons City Council member David Greenlief told his fellow members he had looked over a quote from Kone and said he was worried about the elevator situation in the Charles W. ‘Bill’ Rosenau Municipal Building during Tuesday’s meeting. Greenlief said he is afraid the building’s subsidence has over time, created a problem with the elevator’s hydraulic jack.
“If that cannot be stabilized, we are going to have same song, second verse,” Greenlief said. “A hydraulic jack runs in a straight line and anytime it deviates from that, there will be a problem. Quite frankly, I think a little more research needs done about that before that type is reinstalled.”
Greenlief said there are other kinds of elevators and Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer said the quote from Kone is for total electric with new rails.
Council members voted to repair the elevator, which will take four to six weeks at a cost of $29,788. Kone Inc. will complete the work.
Mayor Dorothy Judy appointed new members for the Parsons Economic Development Authority. The 12 members for the PEDA include Cynthia Kolsun, Nick Amaro, Bruce Kolsun, Randy Moore, Rob Burns, Jonathan Hicks, David Lambert, Jimmy Judy, Patrick Darlington, Jason Myers, Ray LaMora and Mayor Dorothy Judy.
Parsons Chief of Police Bill Rowe gave his monthly statistics for May. It included five citations, six warnings, two felony cases, 21 misdemeanor arrests, one accident and 44 total calls answered.
Donna Stiles, AmeriCorps for PRO ON TRAC reminded everyone about the upcoming free yoga in the Park. She said the classes will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mill Race Park beginning June 13 and ending July 20. Stiles said there will be no classes the week of July 4.
The next Parsons City Council meeting is slated for 6 p.m. June 27 in Council Chambers.
