PARSONS – A Parsons man pleaded guilty to one count of domestic battery Friday in Tucker County Circuit Court.
Daniel Long appeared with his attorney Jeremy Cooper before Tucker County Circuit Court Judge Phil Jordan. Other charges against Long, including seven counts of abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult, two counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with emergency communications were dismissed with prejudice.
Jordan accepted Long’s plea and sentenced him to 30 days, giving him credit for time served in jail and time served on house arrest. Jordan ordered Long to pay court costs.
Also in Tucker County Circuit Court Friday:
-Leonard James Wilson, of Parsons, appeared with his attorney Tim Prentice. Wilson was charged with 10 counts of 3rd degree sexual assault, two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
LaMora said they are waiting on some documents, and he and Prentice are involved in some plea negotiations.
“Offers and counter-offers have been going back and forth, and we finally have something in writing,” LaMora said. “But that just happened this morning, and Mr. Prentice has not yet had time to go over that with his client.”
Jordan set Wilson’s return date in June.
-Brian Craft, of Davis, appeared with Prentice. Craft was charged with one count of sexual abuse in the first degree and child abuse with risk of injury.
LaMora said there had been some plea negotiations, and is hopeful of the possibility of coming to a middle ground.
Jordan set Craft’s return date in June.
-David Cartwright appeared Friday before Jordan. Charges were appealed from Tucker County Magistrate Court, and Cartwright made a motion for a jury trial.
Jordan ruled Cartwright was not entitled to a jury trial because he had a trial in Tucker County Magistrate Court.
Jordan set Cartwright’s return date for May.
