Ground is getting ready to be be broken “imminently” on the Davis Sewer Improvement Project, according to Tomson. Contractors will be moving in materials and equipment for the project to a vacant lot behind the Town Hall, Tomson said. “On the Sewer Collection System, they are going to move in equipment and materials here. They are going to put it in the vacant lot that’s behind me and they’ll use that as long as the lots are available,” Tomson said.
Should the lots be sold prior to completion of the project, Tomson said the contractor would relocate any remaining equipment and materials to another undisclosed location. “When the lots get sold, if the sewer project is not finished, they will find another location to store their equipment and their materials,” Tomson said.
Representatives from engineering firm RK&K will be filming around the Town of Davis in preparation for the project, Tomson said. The purpose for the filming is so the company has a record of how the Town and affected areas currently look so that contractors can return the affected areas to the same condition at the end of the project, according to Tomson. “They are going to be walking around the town doing video filming so that they have a record of what everything looks like right now,” Tomson said. “And that way we can make sure after the sewer project, we can make sure things are put back the same condition that they were in when they started.”
The Town of Davis Water Project is also on track. The project was recently approved for 50% grant and 50% loan funding for the $960,000 project. The project has also been revised to include the rehabilitation and repair of the Wymer’s Dam. The project is also slated to include the replacement of some water lines on Fifth Street and Third Street in the Town with lead joints. The project is currently being bidded out.
The Town of Davis Council heard updates on the sewer and water projects on March 26.
