Thomas- THOMASYARD recently celebrated their one year anniversary and with that expanded the shop.
They are now carrying wine and European beer. I spoke with Franz Harb husband and co-owner of THOMASYARD.
“Today is actually our anniversary,” said Harb. “This is our first year in a small shop three doors down. It was a very tiny shop and was strictly a flower business and now we have expanded into a gourmet store with wine and beer.”
Harb stated they will be carrying exclusively wines from California and Europe as well as beer as to not compete with local sales of brews already in business.
“Our wines are mostly European and Californian selections,” said Harb. “And our beer selections are going to only be European beers. We will be concentrating on Belgium beers, German, Czech Republic and English beer as well.”
When you enter the store you instantly see some of the other gourmet items that THOMASYARD offers which, are mostly from local proprietors.
“We are very proud to carry mostly West Virginia products,” said Harb. “We have honey, jams and jellies from Parsons and Weston. We carry Wild Bill’s products which are from Montrose. We also have teas and spices from West Virginia. The only thing that we carry right now that is not from West Virginia is the Wildwood products, from Texas, which offer soups and mixes.”
THOMASYARD is one of the neatest stores to check out if in the Thomas area. It is filled with local art and local artisans are encouraged to bring in their work for display. THOMASYARD will be starting a wine club in the first of the year. Wine tastings will also be coming in January.
