PARSONS – Buying or selling a home or property can be a very stressful situation, especially when moving to new area. How do you decide which realtor to use and how can you make sure that realtor is the best fit for you and your family? One local realtor was recently certified by the Realtor Referral Network and now has the ability to help people looking for real estate professionals in any state across the U.S.
Debbie Stevens received her real estate license in 1993.
“I opened Stevens Realty in Sept. 1995,” Stevens said. “Shirley Robinson was my broker and we opened the business in Belington in 1997. We closed in 2009 when she retired. I received my broker license in 2005. In September we will be starting our 22nd year.”

Stevens said the endorsement and referral exchange will go a long way to help purchasing and selling real estate become a more customer friendly experience.
“The Realtor Referral Network referral exchange goes into record keeping and looks for people who have a good record in real estate to be part of their team,” Stevens said. “They seek agents based on their good track records and longevity. They contact you – this is not something you can request or apply for.”
Stevens said the network seeks to assist those buying or selling real estate across the United States and helps assist the clients with great experiences.
“Their motto is, ‘We make great real estate experiences happen,’” Stevens said. “Those who work for them must have their real estate license.”
Stevens said when she sends in a referral to them, the Network assigns them one to three agents.
“This is all about customer service,” she said. “It is making sure the customer is foremost and is being served by the best possible person.”
The company has realtors in all 50 states. “When I make a referral, I put in their name, address, telephone number and email,” Stevens said. “The realtors in California call the referrals and qualify them and find out where they wish to purchase or sell property.”
Stevens said an example would be if a Parsons resident had a sister who wanted to move to Texas.
“So, you tell me you have a sister who wants to move to Dallas, Texas,” she said. “I submit her information and they call her and find out where she wants to live and the particulars. The Network would match her up with up to for realtors in the network. She could then interview the realtors for the best fit to help her search for their property.”
Stevens said this gives the person a choice of someone who has been vetted – someone with experience who has good accolades.
“Through this network, the match of buyer/seller happens with good, quality professionals,” Stevens said. “They don’t just ask anybody.”
Stevens said once she makes a referral, she can request the agent contact her before making contact with the client. If someone from the area who knows Stevens is looking to purchase a summer home in Florida, having Stevens make the referral gives that extra boost of confidence. “I can’t sell property anywhere but West Virginia because that is what my license is for. But I can reach out and be a builder of good business all over the United States. That is what we aim to do.”
“I am flattered that I was asked to join the network,” Stevens said. “I found out I received this about a month ago.”
Stevens said referrals of folks looking to purchase property in the area makes her business and Parsons healthier.
“This is a spur for me, my company and hopefully my community because I will be a stronger businessperson,” Stevens said.
Stevens Realty serves Tucker, Barbour and Randolph counties as well as parts of Grant and Preston counties. Their office is located at 201 First Street in Parsons.
