The Dugout, located at 14 Mill St. in Parsons, has added more seating, more menu options, a back room they rent out for parties, ice cream and more than 40 flavors of shaved ice. Server Lauren McCrum, owner Amy Wagner and cook Donna Helmick take time out of their busy evening for a picture.

PARSONS – Folks have been flocking to The Dugout in Parsons since it opened in January for their delicious hamburgers, hotdogs, wings, sandwiches and fries.

This summer, The Dugout has added new menu items, more seating, ice cream and more than 40 flavors of shaved ice, and has extended its hours to better meet the needs of its customers. Owner Amy Wagner said she and husband co-owner John Wagner are excited about the added seating out back and she said over the summer, they hope to add live music on the weekends.

“People really enjoy our crabby patties and our top selling burger is the Shayne Burger,” Wagner said. “It is a burger topped with pulled pork, a deep-fried onion ring, BBQ sauce and bacon.”

Wagner said the menu includes cheeseburgers, wings, hot dogs and fries.

The added seating is located out back and features outdoor picnic tables, perfect for summer family dining.

The Dugout also has added ice cream and shaved ice for the summer and the window is located at the back of the building close to River City Park and the Allegheny Highlands Bike Trail.

“We have all kinds of ice cream and our most popular item is our ‘Wind-ups’ which are similar to Dairy Queen’s ‘Blizzards,’” Wagner said. “We also have milkshakes, sundaes and everything ice cream related.”

The shop also has more than 40 flavors of shaved ice. Server Lauren McCrum said the most popular flavors of shaved ice so far are cotton candy and custard. Additional flavors include favorites cherry and pink lemonade as well as tiger blood, dinasour, dill pickle and fire ball.

Other menu items include mac and cheese bites, fried pickles, Treye’s favorite cheese sticks, fried zucchini, wings, chips and salsa, Maryland crab dip, side salads, hot dogs, burgers, desserts, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, BLTs and desserts.

Wagner said extended hours for the summer are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Dugout has a Facebook page and additional information is available by calling The Dugout at 304-478-BUNT (304-478-2868.)
