HAMBLETON – Three Tucker County High School seniors each hope to be named Homecoming Queen during Friday’s game against the Moorefield Yellowjackets. Girls competing for the title include Aiyana Lee Kachmarek, Helen Melnick and Morgan Moss. The winner will be selected by Tucker County High School students.
Kachmarek is the daughter of Ed and Dianna Kachmarek of Kerens. She is a member of the varsity basketball team and runs track, where she is a three- time state champion in discus and shot put. Kachmarek is the football manager and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Spirit Club.
Following graduation, Kachmarek plants to study journalism and compete at the college level in track and field. Her escort is Derek Zirk, son of Brian and Rosetta Zirk of Thomas.
Leadmine resident Helen Melnick is the daughter of Jeff and Ruth Melnick. She is a member of FCA, the Spirit Club, HSTA, the Ski and Mountain Bike Club and Young Life, and she serves as statistician for the TCHS Basketball and Track teams.
Melnick plans to attend UNC or WVU following graduation, and wants to be a physician assistant. Seth Underwood, son of Jerry and Kelly Underwood of Parsons, will serve as escort for Melnick.
Moss is the daughter of Dale and Danielle Moore of Hambleton. She is a four-year varsity cheerleader, FCA leader and Tucker County High School baseball statistician. She is a member of Young Life, HSTA, the Spirit Club, the Theatre Club and ECHOS Youth Group.
After high school, Moss plans to attend WVU for elementary education, and hopes to specialize in special education. Landon Dillard, son of Scott and Lisa Dixon of Aurora, is Moss’ escort.
Madison Reall, of Hambleton, is the junior attendant. She is the daughter of Mike and Kirsten Reall. Madison participates in many sports including cross country, track and basketball. She is a member of HOSA, FCA and the Spirit Club, and she attends St. Johns United Methodist Church.
After graduation, Madison plans to study nursing at WVU and wants to be a flight nurse or nurse anesthetist. Madison’s escort is Skyler Humphrey, son of Sam and Angie Humphrey of Parsons.
Kenzie Kyle is this year’s sophomore attendant. Kenzie is the daughter of Dave and Amber Kyle of Parsons. She is active in FCA and Young Life and is a cheerleader.
Kenzie said she wants to attend college, but is not sure what field of study she will pursue. Her escort is Justin Fike, son of Gene and Debby Fike of Parsons.
This year’s freshman attendant is Cecily Lou Strawderman. Cecily is the daughter of Randy and Julie Strawderman of Parsons. She plays basketball and runs track. She is a member of the FCA and the Spirit Club, and also attends Young Life.
After graduating from school, Cecily plans to attend Davis & Elkins College and study forensic science. Brandon Zirk, son of Brian and Rosetta Zirk of Thomas, will serve as Cecily’s escort.
