PARSONS – Tucker County High School Principal Jay Hamric announced he is leaving after serving seven years and on Monday, Tucker County BOE members voted unanimously to appoint TCHS Assistant Principal Stephen Cosner as the new principal.
“Congratulations to Mr. Cosner and congratulations to Amber Evans,” Campbell said to both who were in the audience of Monday’s meeting. “We are thrilled to have both of you.”
Also during Monday’s meeting BOE members voted to employ the following:
Michelle Mullenax as physical education/health teacher at TVEMS effective Aug. 9;
Stephanie Hood as math teacher at TVEMS effective Aug. 9; Valerie Eye as computer science and virtual academy coordinator at DTEMS effective Aug 9; Lauren Hicks as special education teacher at DTEMS effective Aug. 9; and Amber Evans as math teacher at DTEMS effective Aug. 9.
BOE members voted to accept the resignation of Jamie Chenoweth as a math teacher at TCHS effective the end of the 2016-2017 school year. They voted to transfer Megan Helmick from second grade teacher at DTEMS to third grade at DTEMS.
Members voted to rescind Roxcella Owen’s contract as a secretary/bus aide and approved a revised contract as secretary at TCHS.
BOE members voted to take an item off the agenda. The item was to rescind the transfer of Tracy Harlan from second grade at TVEMS and approve a transfer to grade four at TVEMS. BOE members asked to table the item until the next board meeting, allowing time to do some further investigation on the transfer.
Tucker County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eddie Campbell recommended approval of a three-day suspension without pay for an employee at TVEMS for violation of the employee code of conduct. BOE members approved the suspension, while Judy Fairbanks abstained from the vote.
The next Tucker County BOE meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 26.
