“We have three athletes that will participate in the January games,” Meloy said. “At each event, we have between three and six athletes that go. Some go more frequently than others because of sickness. We invite you to attend any of the games.”

Meloy said there are four sets of games per year – the January games in Canaan Valley, the basketball skills in March in Morgantown, summer games in Charleston and bowling in Parkersburg.

Commissioner Lowell Moore said the auditors require an invoice when they make a donation.

“We can agree to pay for certain items, but we need an invoice from you,” Moore said.

Commissioners voted to give $675 to the Tucker County Special Olympics for registration fees for games through the end of summer.

In other business, Tucker County Commission took the following action:

-Voted to appoint Mary Ann Thompson to the Tucker County Ambulance Authority

-Voted to hire Leonard Wilson part time at the Tucker County Animal Shelter

The next regular meeting of the Tucker County Commission is slated for 9 a.m. Jan. 14 in the Tucker County Courthouse Courtroom. A special meeting is slated for 8 a.m. Jan. 2.
