Bessie Lee White Carr

Bessie Lee White Carr age 80 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, and more recently a resident of Hendricks, WV, where she made her home with her daughter, departed this life Tuesday evening, October 2, 2018 at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV.  She had been in declining health.


She was born Sunday, March 20, 1938 at Dry Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Will and Nora Mae Nelson White.  On May 31, 1957 at Ellicott, MD, she was married to Albert Lee “Pete” Carr, who preceded her in death April 21, 2013.  They had celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.

Surviving are one son, Donald Ray “Duck” Carr and wife Rachel of Porterwood; three daughters, Carol Ann Wolford and husband Ed of Mt. Zion, Carolyn Lee Shahan and companion, Dwight Bright of Hendricks and Donna Mae Morrison and husband Kenneth “K.C.” of Parsons;  her twin sister, Betty Marie Roy of Parsons; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are four brothers, Richard “Dick” White, Junior “June” White, Frank White and Edgar White; five sisters, Dolly White, Helen Sylvia Summerfield, Grace White, Minnie White and Jessie Phillips; and twin grandsons.

She attended the one room school at Dry Fork and the Mill Run School.  She worked on the family farm, the former White Gables Nursing Home and the former Tucker County Hospital in Parsons for twenty-one and a half years.  She enjoyed crochet, flowers, camping and hunting, and she loved to cook for her family and friends.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11a.m.  Pastor Pat Cassidy and Pastor Adam Snyder officiated and interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Bessie Lee White Carr.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
