Ann Elizabeth “Betty” Parker, 90, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on April 26, 2015, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.
She was born on March 28, 1925, in Hamilton, WV, daughter of the late Harry Camden and Iny Villah Fisher Griffith.
She was a graduate of Washington State University. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Ravenswood where she was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Jackson County Democratic Women’s Club, the R. Douglas Chapter #15, OES, and an active member of the Ravenswood Senior Center where she enjoyed quilting, swimming, and playing pinochle. She retired as a Teacher with Jackson County Schools, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, and she was a member of the Marine Corp. League, MARTCOTO Chapter.
After retiring from teaching, she was active with Adult Literacy of Jackson County. She had lived in Idaho, Washington, and Florida. She had a homestead in Alaska.
She is survived by her children, Matthew Parker and his wife Connie of San Antonio, TX; Ann “Pinky” Parker of Millwood, WV; and Jim Parker and his wife Cindy of Ravenswood, WV; 4 grandchildren, Zachery Parker and his wife Angie; Daniel Parker, Katie Parker, and Sarah Parker; great grandchildren, Bradley and Braylee Parker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and her husband, Robert Parker, who died in 1989.
Services were held on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church in Ravenswood with Reverend Frank Cunningham officiating. A graveside service with full graveside military rites was held on Monday, May 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. at McNieley Cemetery in Tucker County, WV.
Friends visited the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m.
