Anna Lea Varner Lawrence

Anna Lea Varner Lawrence, 88, a former resident of Hambleton and more recently, a resident of Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, passed from this life Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the nursing home.

Anna was born on Tuesday, October 18, 1931, in Red Creek, a daughter of the late Johnny Varner and Goldie Burns Varner. On September 19, 1948, in Oakland, MD, she married Charles Lawrence, who preceded her in death during February of 1991.

Left to cherish Anna’s memory is three daughters, Rhonda Jane Ends and husband, Sherley, of Parsons, Anita Frazier of Ada, OK, and Beverly Dravenstott of Hambleton, one sister, Grace Wolford and husband, Charles “Buzz”, of Dry Fork, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Linda Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Anna in death besides her husband and parents was one son, Alvin Lawrence, daughter, Karen Kimble, two brothers, Carl and Joe Varner, three sisters, Kathryn Teter, Juanita Mallow, and Jennie Teter, one grandson, Chris Ends, one granddaughter, Kimberly Middleton, and two sons-in-law, Truman Frazier and Keith Dravenstott.

Anna attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked as a seamstress for Reidboard Brothers in Elkins for over twenty years and at Parsons Footwear. She enjoyed cleaning and working in her flower garden. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God of Hambleton.

A funeral service was held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Monday, November 18, 2019, at 2 p.m. Interment followed in McNeely Cemetery in Hambleton.
