Arlene Virginia Stemple, 96, of Aurora, WV passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born, May 12, 1920 in Stemple Ridge, WV a daughter of the late Wilmer Erwin and Vernie Grace Hardesty Lantz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ernest Stemple in 1986, also preceding her in death were one son, Erwin Bliss Stemple in 2010, one brother, Vernon Lantz and a baby sister, Lela Lantz. She is survived by three daughters; Betty Lou (Charles) Moore, Aurora, WV, Nancy (Norman Blake) Ridenour, Rowlesburg, WV, and Janet (Larry) Sliger, Swanton, MD and one daughter-in-law, Mary Stemple, seven grandchildren, Melody (Rick) Hubbard, Kevin (Jamie) Stemple, William (Tisha) Moore, Daniel (Dusty) Moore, Timothy Ridenour, Joseph (Kelly) Sliger, Jeremy (Mary) Ridenour and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stemple was a homemaker. She was a member of the Stemple Ridge Ladies Aid, she was a lifelong member of the Stemple Ridge Centennial Union Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, quilting, baking, playing just about any musical instrument, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Friends were received at the Aurora Memorial Building, Saturday, June 4, 2-8 p.m. Funeral services were held, 11 a.m., Sunday, June 5, at Stemple Ridge Centennial Union Church with Rev. Cheryl George officiating. Interment followed in the Stemple Ridge Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
