Barbara Ann Fink Shepard, 75, a resident of Pierce, went to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, October 18, 2013 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md. following a brief illness.
Barbara was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1937 in Pierce, a daughter of the late Luther “Creed” Fink and Gertrude Evelyn Smith Fink. She was married to the late Russell “Boz” Hamner for nine years. On February 28, 1964 in Oakland, Md., she was married to Jerry E. Shepard, who survives. They had celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.
Others left to cherish Barbara’s memory are three daughters, Patty Harman and husband, Jim, Yulee, Fla., Pam Shepard of Newport News, Va., and Dawn Jean Hunt and husband, Billy of Pierce, one son, Steve Hamner and wife, Karen of Bel-Alton, Md., one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Fink of Clarksburg, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one son, Michael L. Hamner, one grandson, Matthew S. Jennings, one great- granddaughter, Brook A. Jennings, two brothers, Charles Wilson and Donald M. Fink, and one sister, Wanda Jean Wotring. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Barbara attended the schools of Thomas and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy, and she loved listening to country music and Elvis. She attended the Thomas United Methodist Church.
Barbara’s request for cremation was honored. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Summerfield Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Barbara Ann Fink Shepard.
