BARBARA JEAN RIZER JONES, age 81 years, a former resident of Hambleton, WV, and more recently a resident of Belington, WV, where she made her home with her daughter, Virda Jean Richard, departed this life Friday evening, May 8, 2015 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV with her family by her side.
She was born Tuesday, November 6, 1934 at Thomas, WV, a daughter of the late John Elwood and Virda Evelyn James Rizer. On November 28, 1954, she was married to Lindy Gene Jones, who preceded her in death in 1992.
Surviving are one daughter, Virda Jean Richard of Belington; one brother, John Rizer, Jr. of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Wanda Ellen Mitchell of Cleveland, OH, Virda Marie Rizer of Parsons and two grandchildren, Michael Dale Richard and wife Kayla of Huntingburg, IN and Rachel Elizabeth Richard of Belington.
Preceding her in death was one infant sister, Lila Dean.
She attended the Hamrick Grade School in Hendricks and Parsons High School. She had worked for Nella’s Nursing Home on Central Street for seven years. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking, gardening, canning and spending time with her dogs.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Father Timothy Grassi will be the presider and interment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery at Hambleton, WV.
