Bernard “Pete” Allen Tompkins

Bernard “Pete” Allen Tompkins, 63, of Parsons, WV, died on July 28, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, surrounded by his family.  Born on July 1, 1960, in Adrian, Michigan, he was the son of the late Herman Henry and Ilene Mae (Lansberry) Tompkins. 

Pete worked for and retired from the City of Parsons as a Heavy Equipment Operator.  He really enjoyed working on cars and, in his spare time, he would enjoy hunting, fishing and camping.  He especially loved Sunday dinners spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, Merry Ellen (Kennedy) Tompkins; two daughters, Amanda Tompkins and Jennie Tompkins and fiancé Micheal Minton; a brother, Nick Tompkins and wife Kim; two sisters, Marylu Moats, and Diana Mullenax and husband Frank; an uncle, Sherman Kardatzke; an aunt, Midgie Garner; many nieces and nephews; along with three dogs, Sugar, Kiara and Candy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Earl Moats; four uncles, Paul, John, and Bussie Lansberry, and Charles Kardatzke; and an aunt, Nonnie Evans. 

Friends were received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m.. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Barton officiating. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Tompkins family at this time.
