“Betty June” Keister Jones

BettyJones1“BETTY JUNE” KEISTER JONES, age 76 years, a former resident of Tucker County, and a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Monday evening April 20, 2015, at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center at Elkins, WV. Death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Tuesday, June 7, 1938 at Slip Hill, Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late Roy J. “Dutch” Keister and Margaret Alice Stevens Keister. When Betty was five years old she made her home with her Aunt Kate and French Raines and family, until her graduation from high school. She was married to Claude B. Jones, who preceded her in death 2003.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Copeland of Elkins; two brothers, David “Jack” Keister and wife Carolyn of Hambleton, Franklin Roy “Frank” Keister of Petersburg; two sisters, Margaret “Blanche” Zabalbliske of FL and Catherine “Kaye” Nestor of Parsons, WV; one grandson, Ronnie Copeland and wife Audrey of SC; and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Charlee.

Preceding her in death are three sisters, Carrie Marie Keister, Ruby Virginia Lipscomb and Mary Jane Jones.

She was a graduate of Davis High School with the Class of 1956. She was a former employee of the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and a former employee of Riggs National Bank, where she retired after thirty three years of service. After retirement she worked at various businesses. She was a Volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels in Tennessee, and a Volunteer at the Davis Medical Center. She enjoyed cooking, gospel and bluegrass music.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. David Snyder and The Rev. Eli Hostetler officiated and interment followed at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Homewas in charge of the arrangements for BETTY JUNE KEISTER JONES. Condolences may be expressed to the family at. www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
