Burley Lee Carr, Jr.

Burley Lee Carr, Jr.,”Buster” age 67 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Monday, April 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

He was born Monday, August 18, 1952 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Burley Lee Carr and Laura Faye Loughry Carr, and raised by his Grandparents, Maggie Carr Loughry and Frank Loughry, who preceded him in death.   Burley met the love of his life, the former Brenda Hart Carr during 1988 and on September 2, 2017 at Crelin, MD, they were united in marriage.

Also surviving are one son Adam Bo Carr of Fairmont, WV; three sisters, Barbara Dunn and husband Sam of Bergton, VA, Evelyn “Suzie” Dull and husband Donald of Hartford, MI, and Goldie “Skeeter” Joiner of Decatur, MI; his twin nieces, Candy and Lacey Cross; both of Parsons and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Charles “Chuck” Carr; brother-in-law, James Joiner; half-brother, Timothy German.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1972.  He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, Wratchford Service Station and Adkins Hardware.  He was an employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Company, working for forty-six dedicated years, retiring in 2018.  He was a proud member of the Craft and Brotherhood of Masonry and  a member of Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons, where he was a Master Mason, a member of the York Rite, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Beni Kedem Shriners.  He was a Master of the Royal Secret.  He loved spending time with his son Bo, deer hunting, riding back country roads, enjoyed welding and even built his own wood splitter.  He was always modifying and polishing his vehicles.  He loved music and dancing, weightlifting and his pets.  Being dedicated to the Plant and loving to cook, Burley charcoal grilled all year round.  His greatest joy was taking care of his family and his home.  He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service took place at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 2:15 PM, where the Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. of Parsons conducted ritualistic rites.  The Reverend Neil Parsons officiated and interment followed.  We encourage our communities to support one another through leaving memories and condolences at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home website.
