Clara M. “Peggy” Roy Davis, 84, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health.
Mrs. Davis was born Wednesday, October 25th, 1933 in Hendricks a daughter of the late Chester Ray Roy and Myrtle P. Davis Roy. On July 7, 1956 at Red House, MD she married the love of her life, John J. Davis who survives. They had celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage.
Also left cherishing Peggy’s memory are two sons William Ray “Bill” Davis and companion, Paula, John Stephen Davis and wife, Rosemarie, both of Hambleton, four grandchildren Justin K. Davis and wife, Sara, Jacey R. Davis, and Liam H. Davis, all of Parsons, and Ashley M. Davis and companion, Daniel Michael of Hambleton, two great granddaughters, Joleen E. and Lillian C. Davis of Parsons, two brothers Jesse J. “Stub” Roy of Elkins, and Hoy Ray “Pete” Roy of Parsons, one sister Ida Mae Cross, of Glen Burnie, MD, two special nieces Pamela Sue Roy Sexton and husband, Marlin, of Parsons and Patricia Ann Kyle Heeren and husband, Donald of Ft. Wayne, IN., one special nephew, D. Scott Roy and wife, Jena of Kerens, and numerous other loved and cherished family, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Peggy was preceded in death by a grandson Jarrett Blaine Davis in 2003, a brother Donald Lee “Don” Roy, Sr. in 2007, and a sister Alice Catherine Kyle in 2010.
Peggy attended the schools of Tucker County. She had worked at Parsons Footwear, was a homemaker, noted cook, crafter and quilt maker. She attended Riverview Chapel Church and was a member of the Hendricks United Methodist Women. She loved her family, friends, church, and the Hendricks United Methodist Women.
Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. Her friend, the Reverend James Snyder officiated, and interment followed at Bright’s Chapel Cemetery, Dry Fork.
