Clyde Cleon Crossland, 85, of Laneville, WV went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 5, 2014 at Hospice Care of Elkins, WV.
He was born June 2, 1928 in Canaan Valley, WV a son of the late Nile and Verna Crossland. He was married to the late Beulah Crossland who went to heaven on February 27, 2011. He is survived by two sons, Clyde Crossland of Laneville, Gary and Debbie Crossland of Davis, one very loving daughter, Candy Crossland of Laneville, three grandsons; Gary Crossland of Davis, Jason and Alisha Crossland of Davis, Brian and Leah Crossland of Laneville, one special granddaughter, Brenda Crossland and husband to be Vanya Perlis of Laneville, three very special great-grandchildren that he loved very much, Joshua Crossland of Davis, Hailey Crossland of Laneville, Alana Perlis of Laneville and one brother-in-law, Gordon Helmick of TX and sister-in-laws Vada Collins and Doris Helmick.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Joyl and infant Clarence Crossland, four sisters, Selena Wilfong, Vallie Phillips, Jessie Crossland, infant sister Iva Crossland
Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved bluegrass and old time country music. He played many musical instruments. He attended the Red Creek Bethel Church of the Brethren in Laneville. He enjoyed his phone calls and visits from his church family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Friends were received on Friday, March 7 at Hinkle Funeral Home from 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8 at Red Creek Bethel Church of the Brethern in Laneville at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Moyers officiating. Interment followed in the Pennington Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com.
