David Lindsey Teets, 92, of Horse Shoe Run, WV passed away November 17, 2017 at Dennett Road Nursing Home, Oakland, MD. He was born August 13, 1925 in Eglon, WV a son of the late William Lindsey and Dora Elma (Fike) Teets. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wilma Mae Henline Teets, one sister; Elmina Stemple, four brothers; John, Chester, Charles and Ellis Teets.
David is survived by one son; Paul (Karen) Teets, Horse Shoe Run, WV, three daughters; twins Rita Sue(Dave) Harsh, Aurora Pike, Mary Lou (Mike) Miller, Franklin, NY and Elma Jane (Joey) Slaubaugh, Silver Lake, WV, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and two expected g.g.c., two sister-in-laws, Audra Teets, Eglon, WV and Eileen Rembold, Ona, WV.
David has been a member of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren since he was 13 years old. He was a retired dairy farmer and school bus driver. He drove the family milk truck in the 30’s & 40’s delivering milk to Thomas and Davis. An article in West Virginia Goldenseal Spring 1999 told the story. David graduated from Aurora High School in 1943. He was a past member and president of the Aurora Lions Club, a member of the Preston County School Service Personnel and enjoyed the dinners and fellowship. He was a supervisor for Monongahela Soil Conservation District for 31/2 years and assistant supervisor for RCD. David was always fascinated by and loved trains. He and Wilma Mae travelled throughout the United States and Canada to ride trains.
Friends were received on Saturday November 18, 2017 at the Aurora Memorial Building from 3-8 p.m. and on Sunday at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren from 1 until 2 p.m. the funeral hour. Rev. Mark Teets officiated. Interment followed in the Texas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Texas Cemetery 723 Hog Back Road Eglon, WV 26716.
