David O. Shahan, 64, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Monday, June 1, 2020, at home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

David was born Tuesday, August 23, 1955, in Parsons, a son of the late Alva John Shahan and Pansy Johnson Shahan. On August 22, 2003, in Parsons, he married the former Debora Kay Waybright. They had celebrated sixteen years of marriage.

Also left to cherish David’s memory were four children, Pamela Cassidy and husband, Danny, of Pifer Mountain, AJ Shahan of Kerens, Debbie Rhoades and husband, Willy, and Tiffany Godwin of Parsons, one brother, Okey Shahan, one sister, Dora Barb, four grandchildren, Erin Cassidy, Ethan Stanley, Jaden Stanley, and Kayden Thornhill and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding David in death besides his parents was one brother, Tom Shahan, three sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Belva Norman, and Orpha Shahan.

David was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1975. He was a self-employed construction worker having worked at Beaver Ridge for seventeen years. He enjoyed spending time in the garage working on small motors, automobiles, and doing carpentry. He loved his pets; chickens, turtle and his favorite dog named “D.O.G”. He loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.

Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Pat Cassidy officiated, and interment followed at Pifer Mountain Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, we will continue following CDC guidelines. The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for David O. Shahan. Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
