 Delphia Ellen Amie Snider

Delphia Ellen Amie Snider, age 79 years, a resident of Montrose, WV departed this life Saturday morning, January 26, 2019.  She had been in declining health, although death was unexpected.


She was born Tuesday, July 25, 1939 at Parsons, WV., a daughter of the late Arch Wilbur Amie, Sr. and Hilma Jane Waybright Amie.  On December 20, 1957 at Oakland, MD, she was married to David Charles Snider, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Danny Lee Snider and David William Snider and wife Tammy, all of Montrose; one daughter, Deborah Sue Dumire of Beverly; one brother, Harry L. Amie and wife Juanita of OH; one sister, Rosa Amie of CA; two grandchildren, Melissa Mahanes of Beverly and Brittany Collett of Charleston; five great grandchildren, Bryton Collett, Kelsey, Dylan, Aubree and Devin Mahanes; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are five brothers, Harold Waybright, David Amie, James Amie, Robert Amie and Arch Wilbur Amie, Jr.; and four sisters, Laura Amie, Ettie May Amie, Stella Jones and Lettie Bell Showalter.

She attended the schools of Tucker County and was a graduate of Parsons High School.  She was a caretaker and a cook, working for the former White Gables until its closing, then she worked at Nella’s Nursing Home at Elkins, and the Tucker County Senior Center.  She enjoyed puzzle books, camping, fishing, going to parks and zoo’s and she loved her grandchildren.

The family received friends at the Sycamore Grove Church at Bull Run on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from Noon until 1 p.m.  A Celebration of Life service was held at 1 p.m.  Rev. Pat Cassidy officiated.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Delphia Ellen Amie Snider.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
