Doyle Oliver Kisner, age 91 years, a resident of the Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Friday afternoon, December 26, 2014 at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV with his family at his side.
He was born Wednesday, December 12, 1923 at Holly Meadows, WV, a son of the late Page Cross Kisner and Luella Narcissus Jones Kisner. He had never married.
Surviving are two brothers, Glenn Kisner and wife Norma of Little Hocking, OH and Richard Kisner of Holly Meadows; two sisters, Dorothy Lee Kisner of Holly Meadows and Julia Ellasue Cochran and husband Vernon of Fairfax, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Harry R. Kisner and James Earl Kisner; and four sisters, Shirley Gray, Auzine Kisner, Evelyn Kisner and Freda Dumire.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1942. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, where he worked on P-51’s during World War II. He was Farmer and a bee keeper, and was awarded “WV Bee Keeper of the Year”. He was owner and operator of Doyle’s Clock Shop. He was a member of the Marquetry Society, a member of the Soil Conservation, and a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Parsons. He enjoyed airplanes and clocks.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Philip Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Doyle Oliver Kisner.
