Edward Joseph Brobst, Sr., age 91 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Thursday afternoon, September 28, 2017 at Nella’s Inc, under the care of West Virginia Caring.
He was born Tuesday, August 17, 1926 at Patterson, NJ, a son of the late Robert Francis and Mary Schnider Brobst. On February 15, 1949 at Patterson, NJ, he was married to Claire Elizabeth Audenaert, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Edward Joseph Brobst, Jr. and wife Anne of Parsons, Paul Joseph Brobst and wife Fan Zi of Renton, Washington and David Wayne Brobst and wife Teresa of Parsons; one daughter, Sharon Ann Lipscomb and husband Arnold of Parsons; thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several adopted children and grandchildren.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by four brothers, Jerome “Buddy” Hoffman, Robert “Bob” Brobst, Stanley “Stan” Gorski and Vincent “Vinny” Gorski; and two sisters, Mary Moore and an infant, Karen.
He attended the schools of Patterson, NJ. He was a twenty plus year Veteran of the arm services, serving the United States Air Force, during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He lived in Toms River & Brick, NJ and Phoenix, AZ, after his retirement.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.. A private family graveside service will be conducted at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Mt. Clare, WV on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., where the Wright Patterson Air Force Honor Guard and the Harrison County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. The Rev. Father Timothy Grassi will officiate and interment will follow.
