Ethel Jane Wimer, 98, of Cherry Grove, WV passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin. She was born October 2, 1918 in Simoda, WV and was the daughter of the late Charles A. Vandevander and Christina Lambert Vandevander.


She was a farm wife, a mail carrier and a cook at Circleville High School. She loved to crochet and quilt.

On June 9, 1945 she married Willie Clinton Wimer, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2003.

She was the last member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers – Glennie Vandevander, Othel Vandevander, Russell Vandevander and Arlie Vandevander and three sisters – Jessie Vandevander, Gracie George and Georgia Strawder.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law; Curtis G. & Sharon Wimer of Parsons, WV. Two grandsons; Paul Wimer andhis wife, Justina of Parsons, WV and Philip Wimer of Parsons; one great-granddaughter Regan Wimer and one step-great-grandson Robby Shupp. The family received friends from 9 – 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. A funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
