Francis Joseph Tekavec, 75, of Mt. Lake Park, MD died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 29, 1938 in Davis, WV, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances Mary (Zadell) Tekavec.  He had worked for United Airlines for over 40 years and was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red House where he served also on their cemetery committee.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.  In addition to spending time with his family, Frank enjoyed hunting and completing home remodeling projects.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce (Costley) Tekavec; three daughters, Stephanie Robinson and husband Joseph, Katrina Tekavec and Sheila Magendantz and husband Eric; grandchildren, DJ, Alexander, Kimberly, Nickolas, Adam, Max, Nico and Carli; great grandchildren, Lauren and Braxtynn; and sisters, Veronica Staron, Patricia Cooper, Alice Tekavec and Jeannette Ware.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Christine Copeland.  Friends will be received at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. after which time a memorial service will be held with Pastor Regina Beard officiating.  A luncheon will follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church for ECLA World Hunger, c/o 3301 Garrett Hwy., Oakland, MD 21550.  The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.  www.burdockfredlockfh.com
