George Allen Simmons, 70, of Philippi, WV died March 16, 2015 at his home.
He was born February 21, 1945 in Red Creek, WV a son of the late Herbert Jessie and Gaynal Thelma Bonner Simmons. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Simmons in 2004. Also preceding him in death were 1 son, Shane Allen Simmons, 1 brother, Herbert Fay Simmons and 1 infant sister, Carol. Survivors include 2 sons, Gary Allen Simmons and Wayne Keith Simmons, 1 daughter, Marlain Marie Simmons, 13 brothers and sisters and 9 grandchildren.
Mr. Simmons worked as a hydraulic mechanic in the heavy equipment industry. He enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Riverview Chapel of Porterwood, WV.
Friends will be received on Wednesday March 18, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the Riverview Chapel Church in Porterwood, WV. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 19, at 11 p.m. at the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church, Red Creek, WV with the Rev. James Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in the Flanagan Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
