HELEN ”NAN” HARSH SWISHER TEDROW

Helen “Nan” Harsh Swisher Tedrow, age 85 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Tuesday morning, April 16, 2019 at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, WV, with her loving husband by her side and under the care of West Virginia University Medicine Hospice.  She had been in declining health.


She was born Wednesday, January 10, 1934 at Cresaptown, MD, a daughter of the late Randall Harsh and Louessa Bonner Harsh.   On March 20, 1990 at Pennsylvania, she was married to Thomas A. “Al” Tedrow, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Stephen A. “Steve” Swisher and wife Mary of Parsons; one daughter, Regina Swisher of Parsons; two step-sons, Thomas W. Tedrow and wife Kelly of Waynesburg, PA and Mark Lynn Tedrow and wife Marsie of Puxataney, PA; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is one step-daughter, Carol Sue Corey; one sister, Jean Miller; and one great grandson, Seth Owens.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1951.  She was a graduate of West Virginia University with a master’s degree in Social Work.   She was an employee of the Department of Human Services, retiring in 1988.  She attended St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons.  Helen enjoyed quilting, sewing and loved to travel.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 4 to 7 PM.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Neil Parsons officiated and interment followed at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Helen “Nan” Harsh Swisher Tedrow.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
