Irene Dorothy Phillips Knotts, age 88 years, a resident of the Blackman Heights Community, Hambleton, WV, departed this life late Sunday evening, December 28, 2014 at the Granville Manor at Parsons, WV.
She was born Sunday, February 21, 1926 at Fairfax, WV, a daughter of the late George R. and Gladys Louise Bright Phillips. On August 14, 1965 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Russell Chester Knotts, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two stepsons, Kenneth Knotts of Parsons and Terry Knotts of Wheeling; one stepdaughter, Louise Hebb and husband Perry of Pierce; two brothers, Bobby Phillips and wife Anita of Blackman Heights and Harold Phillips and wife Judy of Holly Meadows; and two step grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Arnold Roy “Sockum” Phillips, Orland “Poncho” Phillips, Sr., Denver Phillips and Dale Franklin Phillips; and three sisters, Doris Jean Phillips, Mary Ann Phillips and Virginia Yokum.
She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was a former employee of the General Electric Co., where she made lock insulators and worked as a finisher, retiring in April of 1986 and she was a member of the Mackeyville Church.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m.. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
