James “Jim” Arthur Woods, Jr., 85, of Bowling Green, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Born June 9, 1929 in Beverly, WV, he was the son of the late James Arthur Woods, Sr. and Hazel Mae (Howell) Woods.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Woods.
Mr. Woods was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. While in the service, he worked as a radar man.
Mr. Woods retired with 37 years of service at P.P.G., where he had been an inspector.
He belonged to the Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church. Formerly, Mr. Woods had been involved with the Mountain Amateur Radio Club.
He enjoyed gardening.
The highlight of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren!
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Georgia Lee (Wotring) Woods; three sons: James Patrick Woods, and wife Vickie, Fort Ashby¸ their children Michael Judy and wife Jamie & children Chloe and Jenna Judy, Ryan and Trish Woods, Abby Woods and son Braxton, and Chris Woods; Stephen Woods and wife Debra, Lexington, OH, their children, Gregory Woods and wife Sarah James and Kimberly Woods; and, David Woods, his children Phillip Woods and son James, Jennifer Woods, and daughters Chassady and Alyza; and seven siblings, Dorothy Layne, Elkins, WV, Mona Turner, Elyria, OH, Arthur “Bud” Woods, Sylvia “Janie” Judy, Robert “Johnny” Woods, Linda Humphrey, and Carolyn “Nancy” Ramsey, all of Elkins.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday – 10 a.m. at the Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church, with Pastor John Klink, officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas, WV on Wednesday at 1p.m.
