JERRY GLENN PARSONS, SR., age 71 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Friday evening, January 23, 2015 at the Davis Medical Center Emergency Department at Elkins, WV. His death was unexpected and attributed to cardiac arrest.

JerryGlennParsons,Sr.1He was born Tuesday, April 27, 1943 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Junior W. Parsons and Ruth Elizabeth Hedrick Parsons Rizer. On October 18, 1964 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Annetta “Yvonne” Williams, who survives. They had celebrated fifty years of marriage.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry Glenn Parsons, Jr. and wife Patty; two brothers, Roger Lynn “Joe” Parsons and wife Alice and James Dale Parsons and wife Bonnie; sister-in-law, Peggy Parsons; two grandchildren Lucy Annetta Parsons and Zachary Glenn Parsons, all of Parsons, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Ernest Lee Parsons.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1961, where he was a member of the football squad. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills of Parsons, The City of Parsons and D & W Truck Lines. He worked construction at Canaan Valley State Park and retired from the Kingsford Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Parsons. He played softball for the Kingsford Co., and coached little league baseball. He was a member of the Parsons Park Board, A former member of the Parsons City Council and a life member of the Tucker County Historical Society. He was a noted bowler, an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for JERRY GLENN PARSONS, SR.
