Jessie Kathleen White Phillips, 89, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the home of her daughter Nancy Knotts.
Jessie was born Saturday, July 16, 1927 in Dry Fork, a daughter of the William White and Nora Nelson White. On May 9, 1949 she married Lloyd E. Phillips who preceded her in death August 29, 1989.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Eldon Phillips of Philippi, Nancy Knotts of Elkins with whom she made her home and Annalee Helmick and companion Bill Kable of Beverly, four grandchildren, Michelle Louk and husband Mike of Belington, Jake Phillips and wife Angie of Hambleton, Sarah Lipscomb of Parsons and Jennifer Phillips of Mannington, five great grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Emmalee Louk, Cheyenne and Jacob Phillips and Gus Mullenax, one great great grandson, Bryant Smith and two sisters, Bessie Carr and Betty Roy and husband Stelman.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were nine siblings, Helen Summerfield, Grace, Dolly, Minnie, Josephine, Junior, Dick, Frank and Edgar White.
Jessie attended the schools of Tucker County and had been employed as a nurse’s aide at the Tucker County Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting, watching Food Network and game shows. Jessie was a Baptist by faith.
Jessie’s request for cremation was honored and inurnment will take place at a later date in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman beside her husband.
