JOANN LANTZ WATRING, age 79 years, a resident of the Hogback Community, Leadmine, departed this life Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Cortland Acres, where she had been a resident for the past month.
She was born Saturday, August 31, 1935 at Page, VA, a daughter of the late Thomas Huff and Reda Buraker Lantz. On December 25, 1954 at Red House, MD, she was married to Ralph Lee Watring, who survives. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage.
Also surviving are one daughter Deborah Sue Watring of Williamsport, MD; two brothers, Tom Lantz of Petersburg, WV, James Lantz of OH; three sisters, Marlene Ambrose of Moore, WV, Reva Nesbitt of MD Jean Clayman of FL; four grandchildren, Joshua Watring, Jenna Brobst, Jessica Sisler and James Sisler; and four great grandchildren, Christian, Tristan, Wesley and Hunter.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Reda Jane Sisler; and one brother, Richard Lantz.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1955. She was a former nursing assistant at the Cuppett & Weeks Nursing Home at Oakland, MD, and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and old westerns.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home at Parsons, WV, on Monday, February 23, 2015 from Noon until 1:30 p.m. The casket remained closed. On Monday at 1:30 p.m., Mrs. Watring was moved to the Watring Cemetery at Hogback, Leadmine, where graveside services took place. The Rev. Robert Leard officiated and interment followed.
