Kenneth Whitehair, 86, of Davis, WV passed away peacefully at home under the care of Mountain Hospice and surrounded by his family on Monday, July 16, 2018. Born January 24, 1932 in Coketon WV to the late Ferman and Leota (Knapp) Whitehair.


He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Connie (Barnes) Whitehair and two daughters, Lori & Joe Quattro and Sherri & Ted Helmick both of Davis. 3 grandchildren, Duane and Missy Poling, Thomas, Kimberly and Allen Idleman, McGaheysville, VA , Adam Helmick & Fiancé Megan Stone, Davis. 6 great grandchildren, Courtney and Lindsey Poling, Timothy, Dustin and Joshua Idleman and Owen Helmick. 1 brother, Ferman & Betsy Whitehair, Davis and 1 sister Sarah & George Felton, Florida.


He was preceded in death by 1 son, Kenneth “Oops” Whitehair Jr., 1 sister, Ina Linton and 1 brother Ronald Whitehair.

Kenneth was a graduate of Davis High School where he excelled in basketball earning an all-state award. Also a talented baseball player, he tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates & was invited to their training camp, which unfortunately he was not able to attend. He also was invited to try out for the Brooklyn Dodgers but was not able to attend.

Ken was a 68 year member of the F.O.E. #936 where he served in all offices. He also served as Mid Atlantic president and State President. He was also a member of the Masonic Fairfax Lodge #174, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of WV, Elkins No. 35 and Knights Templar of Elkins.

At the request of Ken, he was cremated with no viewing or service. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Hinkle Funeral is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
