Laura Jean Howell Hunt

Laura Jean Howell Hunt, age 60 years, a resident of St. George, WV, departed this life Tuesday evening December 19, 2023, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. 

She was born Sunday, April 21, 1963, at Elkins, WV, a daughter of Donnie Austin Howell, Sr. of Beverly and the late Georgianna Short Howell.  On June 26, 1991, at Parsons, WV, she was married to James Douglas Hunt, who survives. They had celebrated thirty-two years of marriage.

Also surviving are three sons, David Lee Asbury and fiancé Tamara of Bruceton Mills, Brandon Jay Hunt and wife Kelly of Washington, NC, and Nathaniel Gerard Hunt of St. George; one stepdaughter, Kyleen Dye of New Mexico; one brother, Donnie Austin Howell, Jr. and wife Sandy of Junior; four sisters, Debbie Mallow and husband Bill of Huttonsville, Rose Howell Phares of Elkins, Lisa Howell of Baltimore and Doreen Summerfield and husband Danny of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Lathius and Xzavier, Caleb and Tessa, Christopher, Chayce and Kamden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ann Arbogast and Donna Gail Hamrick.

She attended Elkins High School.  She had previously worked in nursing at Davis Medical Center and Nella’s, she worked in retail management in Petersburg and Parsons.  Laura worked in Labor Union #984 of Clarksburg.  Laura enjoyed feeding her deer and turkeys and loved the beauty of the outdoors.  She recently enjoyed watching Hallmark Christmas movies, was a very strong lady, always had a smile and was a joy to talk with.

Laura’s request for cremation was honored. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.   A Memorial Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 6 p.m.  The Reverend Julie M.
