Leonard Lee Arnold, 83, a resident of Parsons, WV, passed from this life Friday, February 15, 2025, at his home. He had been in declining health.
Leonard was born Wednesday, April 2, 1941, in Thomas, a son of the late Charles Daniel Arnold and Stella Mae Sampson Arnold. On August 17, 1979, he married Brenda Jean Carr Arnold who survives. They had celebrated forty-five years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Leonard’s memory is a son, Todd Joseph Arnold and wife, Tara, of Belington, a daughter, Julie Lee Parks and husband, Donald, of Parsons, three grandchildren, Alivia Reese Arnold, Cooper Jaxson Arnold and Brooke Lea Parks, three step grandchildren Jordan Cole Parks, Cody Travis Parks and wife, Carmen, and Kyle Logan Parks, two brothers, Harry Allen Arnold and wife, Billie of Apache Junction, AZ, Clyde E. Arnold and wife, Aggie, four sisters, Floda Ellen “Skeets” Anstine of Oakland, MD, Genevieve Joye “Gennie” Streets of Thomas, Helen Virginia Lyons of Gladestone, MO, and Mary Louise Dumire and husband, James of Petersburg, a sister-in-law, Frankie Arnold of Sugarlands, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Leonard in death besides his parents were two sons, an infant son, Terry Lee Arnold and Charles Lee Arnold, two sisters, Sarah Mae Bolyard and Barbara Ann Firl, and two brothers, Charles W. Arnold and John J. Arnold.
Leonard attended the schools of Tucker County and served with the U.S. Army. He was a heavy equipment operator with Buffalo Coal Company for many years from which he retired. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Parsons. He was also a former president and board member of the Tucker County Fair Association and a member of the VFW of Rowlesburg. Leonard enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11am. Rev. Justin Jones will officiate, and members of the WV Honor Guard and the Tucker County Veteran’s Association will conduct military honors. Leonard’s request for cremation will then be honored. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to WV Caring Hospice, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
