Lester William Cross, age 75 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV departed this life Friday morning, May 8, 2020 at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV. He had been in declining health.
He was born Sunday, October 29, 1944 at Rosendorf, Hendricks, WV, a son of the late William George Washington Cross and Maudie Mae Moreland Cross.
Surviving are his longtime companion and the love of his life, Sandra Kay Loughry; one great niece, Melissa Ann Long Jones and husband Brian; two great-great nephews, Briar Scott Long Heckler and Damion Isaiah Jones; one great-great niece, Izabella Marie Jones; three special friends, Brenda Nestor, Carolyn Meloy and Vera Moran.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one brother, Denver Lee Cross; one sister, Cleta Mae Cross Long; one nephew, Dennis Norman Long; and two nieces, Brenda Lee Cross and Denise Lynn Cross.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School. He was an employee of the former Lamberts Garage and retired from the Kingsford Charcoal Company. He was a member of the Rosendorf Church of God and loved to listen to gospel and country music. He enjoyed spending time with Sandy, going out to eat, taking car rides and shopping. He was loving and kind and never had a complaint and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 10 AM to 12 Noon. We will be following and enforcing local guidelines. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 12:30 PM at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. Pastor Adam Snyder will officiate and interment will follow.
