Linda Irene (Hymes) Delaney, 66, a resident of Thomas, WV, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 under care at Cortland Acres after a long battle with diabetes.

She was born April 21, 1953, in Parsons, WV to the late William Herbert Hymes Jr. and Velma Lucille (Sines) Hymes. She was a 1971 graduate of Mountaineer High School.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendi Annette Shaffer and husband Guy Wayne; four grandchildren, Allison Pugh and husband Nathan, Dylan Pugh and fiancee Claudia, Tyler Pugh and partner Haley, and Brooklyn Ball; two step-grandchildren, Justin Shaffer and wife Diamond, and Daniel Shaffer; five great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Jackie and Jamie Pugh, and Violette and Ira Selby; two step-great-grandchildren, Courtney and Payton Shaffer; and three siblings, Wanda Crossland and husband Richard, William Hymes and wife Diane, and Bradley Hymes and wife Robin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jerry Allison Delaney.

Linda was a longtime employee of the Sportsman’s Club in Thomas and enjoyed working with the public in various jobs. She loved conversation with family and friends and was fond of owls.

Friends were received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home Tuesday, September 3, from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held, 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 4 at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Todd Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
