Lugia Margarita “Lucy” Ricottilli Palmisano, age 94 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017 at Colonial Place at Elkins, WV under the care of Mountain Hospice. She had been in declining health.
She was born Sunday, September 3, 1922 at Belington, WV a daughter of the late Panfilo and Giovanna Centofanti Ricottilli. On August 31, 1946 at Cortland, NY she was married to John Palmisanowho preceded her in death during 1978. Surviving are one daughter, Lorena Margaret Taft of Elkins; three brothers, Carlo Ricottilli and wife Patty of Montrose, Patsy Ricottilli and wife Sally of Belington, Dominick Ricottilli and wife Edna of Belington; three sisters, Amelia Derico of Buckhannon, Adeline Regester of Belington, Virginia Rydzak and husband Edward of Eighty Four, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are six brothers, Laboria, Albert, Armand, Joseph, Fiori, and Tony Ricottilli; and one sister, Fiorina Ricottilli.
She attended the one room Water Camp School. She worked in Lady’s Garments and also for the Pall Trinity Filter Company from which she retired in 1988. She was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church, the Weaving Guild, the Randolph County Senior Center and T.O.P.S. She was an accomplished seamstress, and very much enjoyed quilting, crocheting, weaving, making rugs and upholstery.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday. On Friday, at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, a wake service was recited. On Saturday morning, June 3, 2017 Mrs. Palmisano was moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church where the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m.. The Rev. Father Joe McLaughlin was the Presider and interment followed at the Saint Vincent Cemetery at Kingsville, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, 181 Saint Brendan Way, Elkins, WV 26241 or to the Charity of your Choice.
