Marian “Helene” Hoyte Stewart, 83, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Friday, September 4, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and leukemia.  She was surrounded by her family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

Helene was born Friday, August 6, 1937 in Binghamton, NY, a daughter of the late Lou Schrader and Gertrude Hoyte Schrader.  On March 5, 1955, in Binghamton, NY, she was married to Clell Edward Stewart, who preceded her in death on April 16, 2020.

Helene was a devoted Christian woman who read her Bible every morning and every night for as long as she was able.  She enjoyed being involved in her childrens’ activities.  She was a 4-H leader, Cub/Boy Scout leader, Brownie/Girl Scout leader.  As a 4-H leader, she would take the kids Christmas caroling every year to the hospitals and nursing homes.  Our mother is the woman who taught us about God and took us to church.

Helene had many positions throughout her life.  She was a candy striper as a teenager at a hospital in New York.  Helene also worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Burley.  She then went on to work for Parsons Sauders Department Store and as a secretary at the North View Junior High school while her boys, Tommie, Ronnie, and Donnie, were in school there.  Helene worked as a nurse’s aide, doing private duty work, and sitting with others who were passing.  One of her favorite titles was “Sunday School Teacher” and she absolutely loved teaching children about God.

Left to cherish Helene’s memory is five children, Linda Herron and husband, Gary, Thomas Stewart, Ronald Stewart, Donnie Stewart, and Helene Stewart, her sister Linda Schrader, twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Scott, Kristen, Rodney, Carrie, Danny, Christopher, Marianna, Meagan, Khristy, and Jesse, eighteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by one son, Clell Jr., Aunt Ione, Leo Green, Aunt Gladys, Aunt Charlotte, and Uncle Ken Hoyte.

Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.   Rev. James Snyder officiated and interment followed at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown at 2 p.m.  The Hostetler Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Marian “Helene” Hoyte Stewart.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
