Marlene Frances Lantz Ambrose, 81, a resident of the Moore Community, Parsons, passed from this life Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Marlene was born on Thursday, October 22, 1936 in Erwin, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Huff Lantz and Reda Buraker Lantz. On January 20, 1970 at Red House, MD, she married William Brown Ambrose who preceded her in death on May 10, 2009.
Left to cherish Marlene’s memory are two sons, Robert Douglas Lantz and wife, Cynthia of West Milford and James Thomas Ambrose and wife, Melanie of Parsons, one brother, James E. Lantz and wife, Jeannie of Ohio, two sisters, Reva Mae Stephen-Evick of Oakland, MD and Jean Clayman and husband, Robert of Florida and an aunt, Iva Dean Efird of Brightwood, VA, nine grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron, Gretchen, Savannah, Taylor, Corrick, Mark, Amy, and Matthew, six great grandchildren, Gideon, Courtney, Lindsey, Heather, Jeffrey and Mia, one great great granddaughter, Gabriella “Gabby” and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Marlene in death besides her parents and husband was a step-daughter, Ann Marie Cross, one sister, Joann Watring, and two brothers, Richard Douglas Lantz and Thomas H. Lantz, Sr., and a granddaughter, Miranda Maxwell.
Marlene was a graduate of Parsons High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1958 to 1960. She had worked as a clerk for the U.S. Forest Service from 1965 to 1993. She was a member of the Parsons Church of God. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, and attending Bible Study.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4– 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. Pastor David Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at McNeely Cemetery.
