Martin Burr Wilmoth, 91, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Martin was born Saturday, December 20, 1924 in Norton, a son of the late Waitman Taylor Wilmoth and Gertrude Agnes Smith Wilmoth. On June 4, 1949, he married Vienna Jean Kalar Wilmoth, who survives. They had celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage.
Left to cherish Martin’s memory is one son, Warren “Buster” Ivan Wilmoth and wife Carol of Radcliff, KY, three grandchildren: Laurie Harvey and husband Tim of Michigan, Lisa Spoonemore and husband Chris of Indiana and Michael Wilmoth and wife Meghan of Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina and ten great-grandchildren: Savannah Harvey, Sean McNeal, Shannon McNeal, Sydney Harvey, Ryder Harvey, Addison Spoonemore, Aaron Spoonemore, Nathan Spoonemore, Jedidiah Wilmoth, Lillyanne Wilmoth and one great great-grandson, Owen Parras.
Martin attended school in Randolph County and was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1948-1950. He had worked as an inspector, dye-setter and pressman making automobile bumpers at Rockwell International in Newton Falls, Ohio retiring in 1977 after twenty-six years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Parsons.
Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral chapel on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10 a.m. Rev. Philip Dent will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons Family Cemetery at Shaver’s Fork where members of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tucker County Veterans Association, and WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
