Mary Alice Phillips, 87, of Moatsville, formerly of Parsons, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Mansfield Place, Philippi, following an extended illness.
She was born July 27, 1927, at Pierce, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Leslie Clifton and Lilly Mae (Waltz) Poling.
In October 1948, she was married to Oliver Harmon Phillips, who preceded her in death on November 23, 2012.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Marie Poling and husband, Larry, Moatsville, Lorrisa Ann Kincaid and husband, Mark, Anderson, S.C.; two sons, David Oliver Phillips and wife, Sharon, Akron, Oh., Ronald Lee Phillips and wife, Joanne, Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Joy Lee (Bob) Higgins, Plymouth, Mass., Sarah Marie (Ron) Hayes, Akron, Benjamin (Trish) Poling, Philippi, Jessica (Brent) Turner, Colorado Springs, Col., and Kayla McCurry, Anderson, S.C., great grandchildren, Jason and Morgan Poling, Abigail, Isabella and Elijah Hayes and Alexandria Turner and one brother, Fred J. Poling and wife, Nancy, Wheeling.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John M. Poling, Loyd Poling and Charles Poling.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and was a retired employee of the Parsons Footwear division of Carter Footwear Inc. She was a member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m.. on Saturday, September 27, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 966 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Larry Filler will officiate and interment will follow in the Sugarlands Cemetery, on Sugarlands Road, near St. George, W.Va.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 9 p.m.. on Friday and from 9 until 10 a.m., the funeral hour, on Saturday.
